Kelechi Iheanacho (R) and Wilfred Ndidi (L) |
When Leicester applied to postpone tonight’s match at Everton
, they gave reasons like, injuries , covid infections and unavailability of African
stars due to Afcon.
Stars like :
Kelechi Iheanacho from Nigeria, Wilfred Ndidi Also from Nigeria
and Daniel Amartey, a Ghanaian .
Ralph Hasenhuth a manager at Southampton questions the
legitimacy of the postponement , there has been unexpected alteration of
nationality, in the past, cases like Micheli Anthonia of south London who
signed into Westham in 2015 but later decided to become a Jamaican in 2021,there
was a similar case when Wilfred Zaha of crystal palace, declared his intention
to play for ivory coast, his place of birth.
In both cases one can argue that, their clubs were taken
unaware, and were not expecting that such decision would be taken, the same can
not be said about Leicester, there are arguments that such occurrence could have been avoided . What impact would cases
like this have in the future?
